I have also not seen/read Battle Royale but I know my kids love it.

My feeling on these types of comparisons is this: there are only so many stories out there and it's impossible to contain your influence. We all grow up surrounded by stories, myths, legends and tales. I mean, even religion is full of stories and myths that mirror and reflect each other from one sect to the next. It's all about human understanding and existence. So, of course there will be overlap. I think it's very possible that both authors were inspired by the ancient myths. It's also possible that they were ruminating over the same themes... playing with the ideas of competition, violence, reality and human empathy. In the end, they stories seem to be appealing to very different types of people which is what stories are all about, right?Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13522417440542551138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275301774189729627.post-90326228070176144682009-04-23T18:28:00.000-07:002009-04-23T18:28:00.000-07:00Brandy- Thanks for taking the time to post your co...Brandy- Thanks for taking the time to post your comparison of the two.
